And now ... the rest of the story ...

In the stone age, mankind harnessed fire to pierce the darkness. In the industrial age, mankind developed incandescent lighting to keep out the night. In our semi-conductor age, mankind now uses rare gases and solid state circuitry to help shine a light on our future.

Light Emitting Diodes (L.E.D.) have been blinking on and off for decades, until recently however, the ability to simulate a decent WHITE light source at low-power levels had been a DIM failure. (grin) Fortunately, around the turn of the 21st century, the L.E.D. made a quantum leap in multi-color spectrum capability, and at much cooler operating temperatures as well.

Our exclusive Patriot flashlight combines a unique blend of these modern lighting technologies and integrated circuits, to produce what I consider to be, "The Perfect Flashlight".

To create the perfect flashlight, one must first incorporate the most popular flashlight on the planet, the "Mini Maglite®", produced by Mag Instruments, Inc. Anthony Maglica, who founded this US-based company in 1955, produces such superior quality flashlights, that most cars, boats, airplanes, businesses, and households around the world contain one (or more) of his products. From a small one-man machine shop garage in Los Angeles California, to a global distributor of the world's most popular flashlights that employs over 800 workers, WOW!

Although Mr. Maglica created the ultimate in flashlight design, Mr. Edison and others created and refined the incandescent light bulbs used by most flashlight manufacturers. Whether you use standard bulbs, or those enhanced with special gases or new alloy filaments, small "AA battery" flashlights normally can not handle a LOAD for very long!

It might surprise most people to learn from the graph provided, that typically AA Mini Maglites will only operate for 5-6 hours while RAPIDLY declining in visible brightness during that short time frame. After 5 hours, although the batteries are not fully depleted and could still be used to operate other electronic equipment, an incandescent bulb will NOT have sufficient current to effectively illuminate the filament. Any 6-hour power level remaining will generally produce such dim light, that the flashlight essentially becomes useless. Rechargeable batteries usually die even faster, in only 4 hours of operation.

I can literally take drained (non-working) batteries out of an incandescent Maglite, and still have them power our Patriot conversion for a couple hours longer. Although the Patriot will put out a fair amount of usable light while testing under such extreme circumstances, the power levels will be too low to properly regulate, and you will begin to notice diminished light output until the batteries are drained of any useful current still remaining.

At first glance, the graph clearly shows higher illumination and longer lasting battery life, each in themselves an excellent reason to purchase our Patriot flashlight. However, please take a really GOOD look at those statistical lines which most people generally ignore. Although brighter is obvious, the fact that our flashlight can operate for 2 hours before falling to the same FULL power level as a standard flashlight is not so clearly apparent. Also, look closely at where the 50% light output levels fall. Note that around the same 2-hour mark, an incandescent bulb would already be past 50% light levels (half as bright). Not only is our Patriot 5 times brighter than a standard flashlight, but 50% levels are not even reached until around 7 hours! (truly amazing!)

Eventually, the batteries will cross a critical threshold and become unable to offer enough power for the internal regulator to amplify the light output any further. When this happens, the solid state circuitry switches to a power conservation mode and begins to provide a dimmer type of ambient lighting, until new batteries can be installed. This emergency low-level illumination can best be described as a bright FULL MOON type glow that you could actually use to read a book, or change a tire. In comparison, when a typical incandescent bulb runs out of power, you are literally left in the DARK!

You may also be unaware that the average bulb life is only 15-20 hours (roughly 2-3 sets of batteries), unless of course you accidentally drop the flashlight while it is ON, which DESTROYS the fragile glass bulb or filament instantly! Mr. Maglica was very creative in building a spare bulb compartment into the tailcap of his flashlights, this helps accommodate the limitations of needing to rely on the incandescent bulb technologies of the past.

To eliminate ALL the inherent problems associated with using outdated incandescent bulbs, impact-resistant L.E.D. and solid state circuitry have been added to our Patriot flashlights.

The circuitry I mention contains a miniaturized power regulator which provides a "semi-regulated" flow of current used to amplify the light output as the batteries become depleted. This is generally preferable to the more common "fully-regulated" circuits, which typically only provide a steady beam at lower light levels over extended periods of time. Our semi-regulated light output behaves much like a standard flashlight would, going from very bright, to dimmer, to eventually dead. Fully-regulated flashlights are quite unusual, providing extended levels of low illumination (always dim), to eventually dead, which unfortunately offers few visual clues as to when the batteries might need changing. Unlike regular incandescent flashlights that can die rather quickly and unexpectedly, LED flashlights will generally NEVER leave you without some type of useful low power lighting until new batteries can be installed.  Words like "die or dead" are virtually eliminated, regardless of the type of power management system. By providing brighter light and extended battery life, plus eliminating the need for constant bulb replacements, you can see why our converted flashlights are considered a cost savings investment by many professionals.

L.E.D.s can operate for 100,000 hours (over 11 years), unlike an incandescent bulb's 15-20 hour lifespan. With the exception of accidental battery acid damage, the Patriot could out shine us all in longevity. (grin) If the flashlight itself were to somehow become damaged, "have no fear", all the self-contained LED circuitry can easily be moved into any old (or new) AA Mini Maglite®.

By combining the latest state-of-the-art L.E.D. bulbs, with a miniaturized power amplifier to boost light output and limit battery consumption. Then housing the electronic circuitry inside the world's most popular flashlight, you now have a perfect blend of components. Are you starting to see the light yet? (grin)

Once I began converting my own personal Maglites to L.E.D. technology, starting in 2004, I began to realize that others might appreciate some help in making this modern transition themselves. Because creating each Patriot is obviously more expensive than a typical flashlight would initially cost, I decided to go just one-step-further, and wrap the electronics inside the coolest looking Maglite I've ever seen produced. (I'm hopeful everyone will agree?) This is a very uncommon "limited edition" model, making it nearly impossible to confuse with someone else's generic Maglite with a simple glance. Our Patriot's distinctive look and style will make it much harder to loose track of when borrowed by co-workers, family, or friends (nobody will forget who owns this unique flashlight). Unfortunately, the attractive multi-color stars and stripes flag design also makes it one of the single most expensive flashlights ever released by Mag Instrument, Inc.

One of our goals in creating a perfect flashlight, was to also offer a uniquely special version that anyone would be proud to give as a gift to others. Although we probably created the most expensive conversion ever produced by someone, I find there are times when cutting corners is unnecessary, especially when attempting to offer only the absolute "best of the best" to my customers.

The cost for our one-of-a-kind L.E.D. flashlights are as follows:

P.S.
Although we HIGHLY recommend our Patriot for general all-purpose use, I'm convinced it would be a GREAT working flashlight because of the many benefits of using a fully-integrated power management system.

By working flashlight, I'm being rather general in relating any practical application or usage. For example: If you are a police officer who needs the type of POWERFUL BLINDING BEAM offered by tactical flashlights like "SureFire®", our humble Patriot is NOT what you are looking for. Typically, L.E.D. flashlights do not THROW a spot beam of light needed for extreme distances, nor do they require constant focusing of the optics to help eliminate strange-looking ring patterns at closer distances. If, however, you need a long-lasting flashlight that won't die unexpectedly while looking for evidence in the dark, plus, one that offers a VERY BRIGHT full-spectrum white light (not a dull yellowish-color) so you can easily read a map, drivers license, VIN numbers, etc, then our Patriot is exactly the type of flashlight you have been looking for, if not substantially BETTER!

Typically, police officers, security guards, and auto mechanics seem to prefer standard black flashlights with our optional black tactical on/off switch built into the tail-cap. Only $5.00 more. (available in black only)

Add a push button tail-cap to your existing order (no additional shipping cost):
Add $3.95 for shipping and handling when only ordering the tail-caps

Warning: The light produced by our conversion modules are rated 5-times brighter than the original incandescent bulb. (WOW!) (DO NOT look directly into this high-intensity beam!)

Final Comments: Although there are many companies that sell L.E.D. flashlights, NONE offer the numerous aftermarket accessories produced for the Mini Maglite®. Headband attachments, fiber optic extensions, holsters, multi-colored lens, belt clips, and even an "in-the-mouth" biting-type holder have all been created for this unique little flashlight. This means that owning a "converted" Mini Maglite (instead of a generic L.E.D. model), will still allow someone to take advantage of all the accessories available ... which is another reason why the Mini Maglite® is extremely popular over a large-array of professions and with such a wide-variety of people.

It has come to our attention, that many people do not realize that these flashlights can be used in a candlestick type of configuration. See example image for directions.

This unique setup offers an area type of hands free lighting when needed. For example, this can be extremely beneficial whenever there is a power outage, and you do not wish to use normal candles.

Not only can regular candles be a fire hazard, but they are not as convenient or as easily portable as using a flashlight. Candles also produce a great deal of heat and toxic fumes, that are difficult to avoid without power to your air conditioning or fans.

Our longer-lasting LED modules, also out-performs a typical flashlights incandescent bulb by several hours, and would possibly out-shine standard size candles as well.
